Choose a sour food from the dropdown, and the calculator loads its approximate fiber value in grams per 100 g. Enter the amount you plan to eat in grams, ounces, or cups, adjust the daily fiber goal if it's different from 28 g, then press Calculate fiber. The result panel shows the fiber grams in that serving, the estimated serving weight, the fiber density used, and the percentage of your daily goal fulfilled.

For a packaged food not in the list, select Custom food and type the fiber value from the nutrition label into the Fiber per 100 g field. If your label lists fiber per serving, convert it to per 100 g by dividing the serving fiber by the serving weight in grams and multiplying by 100.

How the Estimate Works

The core calculation is a simple proportion: fiber grams = (serving weight in grams ÷ 100) × fiber per 100 g. The calculator first converts the serving to grams:

  • Grams are used as entered.
  • Ounces are converted at 1 oz = 28.3495 g.
  • Cups are converted using a food-specific grams-per-cup value, because chopped, sliced, shredded, and packed foods have different densities.

Gram-based servings are the most accurate. Cup estimates for foods like sauerkraut or kimchi depend on how tightly they are packed and how much brine is included.
