How the Numbers Are Calculated
Each food in the dropdown is represented by average per-100 g values drawn from common food composition databases such as the USDA FoodData Central. The calculator scales those values by your portion weight. Net carbs are calculated as total carbohydrate minus dietary fiber. Saturated fat is estimated from the total fat using two assumptions: roughly 60% of the fat in a deep-fried food comes from absorbed frying oil, and the absorbed oil's saturated fat content equals the chosen oil's typical share of saturated fat.
Worked Example
150 g of French fries fried in canola oil. Scaling factor = 150 ÷ 100 = 1.50. Calories: 312 × 1.50 = 468 kcal. Carbohydrates: 41 × 1.50 = 61.5 g. Protein: 3.4 × 1.50 = 5.1 g. Total fat: 15 × 1.50 = 22.5 g. Fiber: 3.8 × 1.50 = 5.7 g, so net carbs = 61.5 − 5.7 = 55.8 g. Saturated fat estimate: 22.5 g fat × 60% oil × 7% (canola) = 0.9 g.
