The Formula Explained
This calculator uses the standard metabolic equivalent approach from exercise physiology. One MET is the energy you burn at rest, roughly 1 kcal per kilogram of body weight per hour. During an activity, the MET value tells you how many times resting energy expenditure you are using. The formula is:
Calories per hour = MET × body weight (kg) × 1.05
